Glenmorangie Palo Cortado 12 Years Old is a limited-release, 46% ABV Highland single malt Scotch, part of the Barrel Select series, matured for 8 years in ex-bourbon casks followed by a 4-year finish in rare Palo Cortado sherry casks. It features a rich, sweet, and nutty profile with notes of chocolate, ginger, dried fruits, and spice.
Key Description & Tasting Notes
- Finish/Cask: The first Glenmorangie to be finished in rare, "accidental" Palo Cortado sherry casks, which are known for blending the delicate nose of Amontillado with the body of Oloroso.
- Nose: Rich and elegant, with toffee, vanilla fudge, honeyed ginger, and milk chocolate.
- Palate: Syrupy and oily with flavors of treacle-toffee, caramel, nutmeg, dark plum, and raisins.
- Finish: Long, warming, and nutty with hints of salted almonds, leather, aromatic tobacco, and licorice.
- Appearance: Deep gold.
