Product Description

Bottled at 43% ABV, Dewar's 19 Year Old utilizes the brand's signature "double aging" process—maturing the malt and grain whiskies separately, blending them, and then resting them again in oak to maximize harmony and integration. Built around a core of single malt from the Aberfeldy distillery, recent iterations of this expression have been extra-finished in unique wood types (such as Calvados apple brandy casks or French oak Cabernet Franc red wine barrels), adding rich, layered fruit notes and elegant complexity to the traditionally honeyed and buttery Dewar’s style.

Tasting Notes

  • Nose: Rich, bright, and deeply aromatic. Soft heather honey and vanilla bean lead the bouquet, beautifully balanced by ripe orchard fruits (like baked apples and poached pears), toasted coconut, and a touch of warm baking spice.

  • Palate: Exceptionally creamy and velvety. The palate opens with layers of sweet butterscotch, rich toffee, and salted caramel, moving mid-palate into sautéed apples, milk chocolate, and subtle dried fruit notes like apricot and golden raisins.

  • Finish: Long, warming, and elegant. The dessert-like sweetness tapers into a refined, drying finish marked by gentle oak tannins, soft cinnamon spice, and a very faint wisp of delicate smoke.

Pairing Suggestions

  • Decadent Desserts: The prominent vanilla, caramel, and orchard fruit components pair beautifully with classic vanilla bean crème brûlée, an apple tarte tatin, or a rich dark chocolate torte.

  • The Cheese Board: Complements rich, nutty hard cheeses like a mature Gouda or an aged white cheddar, as well as creamy, salty blue cheeses where the whisky's honeyed sweetness cuts the funk.

  • Savory & Smoky Fare: The underlying grain complexity and mild salinity make it an excellent partner for high-quality smoked salmon on blinis or rich savory starters like duck pâté.

  • Service Tip: Best appreciated served neat or with a few drops of pure water to open up the delicate honeyed aromatics and soften the oak wood tannins
